Allen Baden

Allen brings over 25 years of experience in the intellectual property law field to Baden Law.

Following his graduation from law school, Allen joined a small computer company in Austin, Texas called PC’s Limited, now Dell, Inc. Allen’s time at PC’s Limited convinced him that he would not be happy without a technology-oriented practice and, to that end, Allen left for New York City, where he joined and ultimately became a partner at Kenyon & Kenyon LLP, then one of the oldest and largest intellectual property firms in the world. Over the course of his 21 years with Kenyon, Allen counseled a wide range of companies on IP matters generally, with particular emphasis on companies in the internet commerce, computer and telecom fields, and companies seeking to expand their rights into new geographies. In addition to his legal practice, Allen chaired the firm’s technology committee, and was responsible for helping select and negotiate the relationships with the firm’s many technology vendors.

In 2020, following a move to Dallas, Texas, Allen formed Baden Law, where he continues to advise emerging and mature companies across a wide range of industries, including extensive work with technology and consumer products clients in the establishment, enhancement, enforcement and defense of their intellectual property rights, both domestically and internationally. Allen also works closely with local companies and investors in conducting due diligence, enhancing corporate and IP procedures, documenting investments and negotiating transactions.

Relying on his many years of legal experience, business acumen and technical expertise, Allen prides himself on his efficient, cost-effective and pragmatic approach to client service, which has helped him attract clients, some of whom he has represented for over 15 years. Allen's experience includes two seconding stints during which he managed legal practices for the world's largest comic book publisher and semiconductor company. Allen also has a long history of pro bono representation of a multinational environmental education organization and previously advised the nation's pre-eminent civil rights organization on trademark matters.

Allen has litigated patent and trademark infringement, unfair competition, copyright and contract matters before U.S. District and Appellate courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Allen also has substantial experience in corporate asset acquisition and transfers, as well as the sale, acquisition and licensing of IP rights, including technology, multimedia, open source, software and character licensing.
